Pono Hanson

USAT Level I Certified Coach | NXT LVL Endurance

Pono Hanson comes from a diverse athletic background, including varsity-level and Division I running. Growing up in Hawai‘i, he developed a deep love for the outdoors and the water, a connection that naturally led him to triathlon. Since beginning his triathlon journey in 2016, Pono has gained extensive race experience across all distances, from sprint to full Ironman. His accomplishments include multiple full Ironman and half-Ironman finishes, highlighted by appearances at the 2022 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawai‘i, and the 2024 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Taupō, New Zealand.

Outside of sport, Pono is a professional engineer, bringing a data-driven and analytical mindset to coaching. He believes in building consistent, sustainable training plans that balance athletic goals with life’s many demands, whether that’s work, recovery, or

time with his two dogs, Roxy and Alohi (and the occasional stop for french fries or something sweet).

Based in Indianapolis, Pono is passionate about the power of community and accountability in endurance sport. He thrives on helping athletes push their limits, stay curious about their potential, and find joy in the process of becoming their best selves, both on and off the race course.
